- Always practice safe tool operation, wearing safety glasses, proper safety gloves and properly approved respirators when engaged in coating removal from any surface.
- Read all name plate data on tools or literature included to insure there is proper AIR supply, CFM and PSI or proper electrical source. - The design of the DESCO DUST FREE POWER TOOLS are unique and does require some change in practice from general power tool usage. Sizing of vacuums, length of hoses, type and number of tools are critical to insure proper dust containment.
- A HEPA VACUUM is required when removing hazardous material, such as but not limited to LEAD, ASBESTOS, SILICA DUST, MAGNESIUM and CHROMATES.
- A conventional vacuum can be used when attempting to capture non-hazardous dust such as nuisance dust or general dust control.
- Contact Desco Mfg Co at (800) DESCO-4-U or (800) 337-2648 for proper vacuum sizing.
- All tools equipped with "DUST COLLECTOR OUTLET ATTACHMENTS" must be STARTED in place with BRUSHES making contact with the surface and STOPPING tool in place. This will insure proper containment of dust, starting, during and stopping.
- Tools with and with out brushes must make contact with the surface at all times, the brushes are designed to assist the vacuums allowing cooler air to enter from outside and overworking, or unnecessary pressure can hinder or alter proper usage.
- Vacuums must be turned on, air or electric prior to starting power tools and turned off after tools are turned off, it is recommended that the vacuum is left running 15 to 30 seconds after tools are stopped, this will assist in capturing any dust remaining in the vacuum hoses.
